June 8 this year is the 17th "World Ocean Day" and the 18th "National Ocean Promotion Day". On the 8th, in order to popularize marine knowledge and enhance the marine awareness of the whole people, the Beihai Bureau of the Ministry of Natural Resources, in conjunction with Qingdao Marine Development Bureau and Qingdao West Coast New District Management Committee held a popular science campaign with the theme of "Protecting the Marine Ecosystem and Harmonious Coexistence between man and nature" at the Tangdaowan National Wetland Park in Qingdao.

A total of more than ten popular science exhibition boards were arranged at the event site, showing the important ecological functions of seagrass beds, the current status of local seagrass resources in Qingdao, the seagrass bed restoration technology, and the remarkable achievements made by the West Coast New Area in marine ecological protection and restoration. At the same time, the video materials of on-site monitoring and restoration of seaweed beds are displayed on the on-site screen, telling the ecological story of Tangdao Bay seaweed beds from "on the verge of disappearance" to "reappearing vitality" to "ecological prosperity", allowing the public to intuitively feel the efforts and efforts of scientific researchers and people from all walks of life to jointly protect the "undersea grassland".

At the scene, the volunteers also explained and displayed seagrass seeds, plants and large seaweed specimens, and explained in detail the differences between seagrass and seaweeds to the public. By displaying benthic biological specimens, the public was guided to understand the wonderful "undersea residents" living in seagrass beds, emphasizing the importance of biodiversity. The in-depth and easy-to-understand explanation and physical display have significantly increased the public's interest in understanding and caring about the ocean.
