In order to comprehensively and comprehensively solve the problem of plastic pollution, General Min Aung Hlaing, Chairman of the National Administration Commission of Myanmar and Prime Minister, said that he is promoting the issuance of a national-level plastic management action plan.
At the 2025 World Environmental Protection Day commemoration event held at the Yezin University of Forestry and Environment on June 5, General Min Aung Hlaing made the above statement.


He mentioned that in order to properly control garbage, including plastic waste, Myanmar has formulated and issued the "Myanmar National Waste Management Strategy and Core Action Plan (2018-2030)", which is currently promoting comprehensive implementation in urban, rural and industrial fields.
In addition, in order to reduce domestic plastic pollution, Myanmar is focusing on strengthening the local plastic recycling and recycling industry, and preventing plastic waste from polluting the marine environment by improving industrial and urban waste management processes in coastal areas. The government requires relevant regions to strictly follow the hierarchical management procedures.


General Min Aung Hlaing also emphasized that Myanmar is working with other ASEAN countries to implement the Bangkok Declaration on the Treatment of Marine Waste and the ASEAN Framework Agreement passed in 2019, and work together to promote regional cooperation.
