On June 7, a Chinese fishing boat stranded and dangerously in the waters near Meijiu Reef on Zhongye Island in the eastern side of Zhongye Island in the Nansha Islands of my country. The Chinese Coast Guard ship 5102 and two Chinese fishing boats immediately launched rescue, and the 5103 ship continued to work on the west side of Zhongye Island.
Because Meijiu Reef is only one iron-clad waterway from Zhongye Island illegally occupied by the Philippines, and the two are only 2 nautical miles away, the relevant actions have attracted the high attention of the Philippine army on Zhongye Island. In addition, the Philippines has recently held a so-called "Maritime Music Festival", which is even more treasonous and worried about any major changes.
The Philippine Coast Guard increased patrols on its illegally controlled islands and reefs on June 7, with the focus on its illegally occupied Xiyue Island (which was occupied by the Philippines since 1963 and is the second largest island in the Nansha Islands it occupied) and Zhongye Island.
The Philippine Armed Forces said "this is part of the Philippines' continued efforts to safeguard sovereignty and demonstrate its lasting existence in the region." This cruise, the Philippines will also conduct subjects such as beach landing exercises. In fact, this is also part of the "Seventh Maritime Cooperation Activity Exercise" conducted by the Philippines and the United States.
The Philippines dispatched the BRP Miguel Malvar (FFG-06), BRP Cabra (MRRV-4409) ships and an AW-109 helicopter. The United States dispatched a P-8A Poseidon reconnaissance aircraft and a shore team from the 3rd Marine Corps Coastal Regiment.
It is worth mentioning that this operation is the first combat mission of the Philippine Navy's latest missile frigate, BRP Miguel Malvar (MRRV-4409). It is the latest ship delivered to the Philippine Navy by South Korea in April this year. It has anti-surface, air defense, anti-submarine and electronic warfare capabilities, equipped with 76mm artillery (8 nautical miles) and surface-to-surface missiles (97 nautical miles). Optical and radar systems are also more advanced.
Therefore, the Chinese coast guard was originally conducting normal rescue of civilian ships in its own waters, but the Philippine and Western media carried out hypes with sinister intentions. In fact, if we want to regain Zhongye Island, we will not adopt a model similar to the Philippines illegally sitting on Ren'ai Reef, but will regain it openly.
The Philippines was showing off its newly built 3,000-meter runway on Zhongye Island during the "Fragrance Club", which already has a take-off and landing C-130 transport aircraft and FA-50PH fighter jet. Philippine media also reported that the island has all hospitals, schools, etc., and will be opened to tourist attractions in the future.
Zhongye Island has been illegally occupied by the Philippines for 54 years and has become the command center and important support for the Philippines' illegal activities in the South China Sea. By deploying anti-ship missiles on Zhongye Island and introducing military cooperation such as the United States, Japan and India, it is trying to build it into a "anti-intervention" fulcrum, which will seriously threaten peace and stability in the South China Sea.
Therefore, we must also put the recovery of Zhongye Island and the other seven islands and reefs occupied by the Philippines on the agenda. The Philippines is also constantly conducting illegal activities on the iron line reefs near Zhongye Island and constantly hype them up. All of this reminds us that we must constantly compress the space for illegal activities in the Philippines, making it difficult for them to gain a foothold in the South China Sea.
The Philippines' illegal activities in the South China Sea now show two characteristics: one is to continuously combine with the United States and Western allies to increase provocation; the other is to use fishermen as a guise to conduct "demilitarization" means to test and hype.
Although our law enforcement ships have stations nearby, there is still serious asymmetry in the face of the continuous illegal activities of the Philippines. Therefore, this needs to be solved from a broader level, so as to effectively curb the continuous spread of the Philippines' ambitions.
