Two new incidents in the Russian-Ukrainian battlefield: the unmanned boats failed to attack and the 6,000 corpses exchanged for tens of billions

2025-06-08 12:02:55 HKTtodayinfo

Recently, Russia and Ukraine have had two new things: one is that Ukraine used a newly developed unmanned submarine to attack the Crimea Bridge and was intercepted, and the other is that Russia suddenly dumped 6,000 Ukrainian corpses during the negotiations of Russia and Ukraine to exchange for 10 billion in compensation.

These two things seem simple, but there are new routines for fighting behind them.

Ukraine built an unmanned boat called "Marichika". It was six meters long and could carry more than 100 kilograms of explosives. It was said that it wanted to dive into the underwater and explode the bridge. As a result, the Russian army was prepared for a long time, and the fourth-layer anti-submarine network stopped it, and it was fine if the bridge pillars were not blown up.

What's even more embarrassing is that the escort drone was sunk by the Russian drone. Although this boat did not succeed, it obviously wanted to try out whether the new technology could deal with the Russian military.

Russia directly took out 6,000 Ukrainian corpses at the negotiating table, saying that it could be handed over, but the condition was that Ukraine had to compensate his family members for 90 billion hryvnia, equivalent to more than 10 billion yuan. This matter sounds like humanitarianism, but it is actually a blackmail. In the past, Ukraine could have said that soldiers were missing and dragged without compensation. Now the bodies are clearly left there, and the family members have to admit their accounts. This is under great pressure for Ukraine, which is already in a tight economy.

The Ukrainian representative immediately fought back, saying that we also saved 6,000 Russian corpses. If we wanted to change, we would change them one-on-one, and no one could take advantage of them. According to Russia's compensation standards, they have to pay more than 600 billion rubles, and both sides are planning to do so. The corpse turned into bargaining chips, and at the negotiating table, they refused to give in to each other.

In fact, Ukraine has been fighting hard in recent years, so it wants to use new technologies to find breakthroughs. They specially set up unmanned combat troops, and use drones and robots. This time, the submarine was also built by a local company, with a cost of more than 400,000 US dollars per ship, and it is expected that low-cost and high-risk tactics will make up for the weapon gap.

But the Russian army was prepared for a long time, and the amount of underwater explosives was insufficient, and the protective net was also tightly repaired. This shows that new technologies are not enough in future wars, and it depends on how to match tactics and resources. Ukraine wants to reduce costs by relying on high technology, but failed cases also remind you that if the technology is not mature, you will suffer a big loss.

The corpse transactions played by Russia are even more ruthless. It deliberately freezes the corpse and preserves it well, which is to force Ukraine to pay. This money is not a small amount for Ukraine, which lives with Western aid. It will be affected in subsequent wars and people's livelihood. But if you don’t claim the body, there will be greater pressure on domestic public opinion, which is a dilemma.

Now both sides are trying new tricks. Ukraine uses technology to play tricks, while Russia uses cold-blooded calculations to put pressure on it. No one knows which way lasts more, but surely, modern warfare is no longer just about soldiers fighting bayonets. Wars are becoming more and more like calculating economic accounts and comparing technological strength, and the number of casualties and deaths can become numbers on the negotiating table.

This matter will probably have more tricks in the future. Anyway, both sides are looking for new ways to break the situation, and whoever finds a good solution first will take advantage. Now we can only look at the subsequent development.
