On June 5, more than 30,000 party and government leading cadres at all levels in Sichuan Province participated in the first lecture of the province's "Series of Improving Leading Cadres' Application of AI Artificial Intelligence Capabilities" through live video broadcast.
According to the Sichuan Daily on June 6, this series of lectures is divided into four periods and will last until early July. The lectures are conducted in a combination of "main classroom + sub-classroom" and "online + offline". The main classroom is located in Chengdu and the sub-classroom is located in various cities (prefectures), counties (cities, districts). The lecture was broadcast simultaneously through the Sichuan Cadre Network College, covering more than 30,000 party and government leading cadres at all levels across the province. The relevant teaching videos will also be uploaded as self-study courses for online training for cadres at all levels.
Official information shows that at the first lecture held in Chengdu, Wang Xiaohui, Secretary of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China and Chairman of the Provincial People's Congress Standing Committee, Shi Xiaolin, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Governor, and Tian Xiangli, Chairman of the Provincial CPPCC, attended the first lecture. Jin Lei, Minister of the Organization Department of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, presided over the first lecture.
According to the first lecture, Hu Shimin, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, vice chairman of the Chinese Computer Society, and deputy director of the Academic Committee of Tsinghua University, gave a special tutorial on the topic of "Building my country's independent artificial intelligence ecology and promoting the development of new quality productivity", and explained the difficulties and challenges in the development and application of AI technology in my country, and how AI technology empowers thousands of industries. More than 300 people including relevant departments of Sichuan Province and provincial scientific research institutions, universities, and state-owned enterprises attended the first lecture in the main classroom.
It is worth noting that it is rare in the country to carry out artificial intelligence special lectures and learning and training on a large scale based on the leading cadres group within the province.
Sichuan Daily reported that this is the first large-scale training conducted by Sichuan on the topic of artificial intelligence among leading cadres. The purpose is to help leading cadres at all levels accurately grasp the international and domestic development trends of artificial intelligence through lectures, help leading cadres understand the strategic layout and macro policies of artificial intelligence, combine Sichuan's actual situation to find the entry point for industrial application, proficient in using artificial intelligence analysis to solve problems, and continuously improve administrative efficiency and decision-making quality.
In recent years, Sichuan Province has included artificial intelligence in the "15+N" key industrial chain to coordinate the construction of a circle and strengthen the chain, and actively build a national artificial intelligence innovation and development pilot zone and an innovative application pilot zone. In 2024, the province's artificial intelligence industry revenue exceeded 130 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of more than 25%, reaching a level of 100 billion for the first time.
In terms of the integration of AI and government services and applications, many provincial institutions and cities, counties and districts in Sichuan are also actively promoting it. Information on the official website of the Sichuan Provincial Government Services and Public Resources Trading Service Center shows that after the 2025 Lunar New Year, the center held a special training meeting on "Digital Government Lecture Hall", emphasizing that cadres across the province should further emancipate their minds, update their concepts, change their thinking, and find the right integration and focus points between artificial intelligence and work. In terms of government services, we must accelerate the creation of innovative applications such as AI approval and processing, AI consulting guidance, AI intelligent pre-filling, AI digital people, and AI policy calculator.
In Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province, the city has issued the "Chengdu Three-Year Action Plan for High-Quality Development of the Artificial Intelligence Industry (2024-2026)". While proposing measures to lay out key core AI technologies, accelerate the construction of computing power support capabilities, and improve data supply quality, it also implements scenario integration application cultivation actions, and plans to create no less than 50 innovative application scenarios for artificial intelligence + production/life/governance by 2026.
The Sichuan Daily reported that Sichuan will also invite professors and experts from well-known universities and industry fields to interpret the relevant knowledge of artificial intelligence and explain the use of large models to better improve the ability of leading cadres at all levels to use artificial intelligence technology to promote high-quality development.
