IT Home June 7th news, the technology media Android Authority published a blog post yesterday (June 6th), reporting that Google is developing the "lock on disconnect" function for the Pixel Watch smartwatch. After disconnecting it from the phone, the phone will automatically lock the screen.
IT Home quoted a blog post and introduced that the Pixel Watch currently has the Watch Unlock function, and users keep their phone unlocked through the presence of the watch. As long as the watch is unlocked and connected to the phone via Bluetooth, users can operate the phone without entering a PIN code or using biometrics.
However, this function is limited to one-way operation: the watch can unlock the phone when it is present, but it cannot automatically lock the phone when it leaves. This is an obvious shortcoming for those who set a long screen break time and are worried about unblocking the phone after accidental legacy.
An Android Authority has discovered clues to the new features through the APK teardown of the Google Pixel Watch app version 3.5.0.758720535. The text string contained in the code explicitly describes a "lock on disconnect" function, meaning "locked when disconnected".
Phone will lock when it disconnects from your watch like when its far away Lock phone when left behind
This function will detect the connection status of the Pixel Watch and the phone. Once the connection is interrupted (such as the watch is far away from the phone), the phone screen will automatically lock. Although this feature has not yet taken effect, the relevant setting options have appeared.
