IT Home June 8th news, ahead of the upcoming Apple Global Developers Conference (WWDC), which will open in the early hours of next Tuesday, Bloomberg released an in-depth report revealing many details of Apple's software updates, especially the highly-anticipated major redesign of iOS 26. iOS 26 is said to be the most comprehensive redesign the platform has ever seen since iOS 7 in 2013.
IT Home noticed that as previously reported, Bloomberg said that the design inspiration for iOS 26 was from visionOS, its core interface elements will adopt the "digital glass" style, focusing on the visual effects of "light and transparency". The toolbar and tabbar will be redesigned, and the application icons and other buttons will be redesigned. In addition, iOS 26 will adopt a large number of pop-up menus, and users can quickly get more options by clicking buttons.
About whether iOS 26's app icons will adopt a rounded corner design like the Apple Vision Pro interface, Bloomberg's report pointed out that the shape of the app icon "staplely remains unchanged" in iOS 26.
This redesign will also extend to the home screen widgets for iPhone and iPad. Bloomberg said the widget has been "redesigned to match the new interface" but its functionality will be "around the same as it is currently available." The Safari browser will be one of the most changed applications in this update, with its interface "significant update" and the address bar will adopt a "more transparent and glassy" design.
The phone application will also usher in a revision, adding a new view of "integrating commonly used contacts, recent call history and voice mail into a scrollable window". However, this change is said to be optional and users can choose to retain if they prefer the existing design.
In addition, the Preview app (Preview app) that has been on macOS for many years will also be available on iPhone and iPad this year, providing users with more powerful PDF management and annotation tools.
Bloomberg's report also confirmed other details of iOS 26 previously reported by 9to5Mac, including the redesign of CarPlay, the addition of voting and automatic translation capabilities in the information app, and the launch of the dedicated "Apple Games app." In addition, the report also confirms the upcoming changes in camera applications reported by Jon Prosser.
