The 2025 overseas Chinese media interview event officially launched

On the afternoon of June 9, the 2025 overseas Chinese media interview event hosted by the United Front Work Department of the Hangzhou Municipal Party Committee (Municipal Overseas Chinese Affairs Office) and the Municipal Federation of Overseas Chinese was launched in Hangzhou. Wang Xinyu, deputy director of the United Front Work Department of the Hangzhou Municipal Party Committee and director of the Municipal Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, attended the event and delivered a speech. Zhao Xinhao, secretary of the Party Group of the Municipal Overseas Chinese Federation, presided over the launching ceremony. Representatives of 30 overseas Chinese media from Canada, Australia, Italy and other countries and regions, and some representatives of media in Hangzhou gathered on the banks of Xizi Lake to start a five-day in-depth visit.

Wang Xinyu said that overseas Chinese media is an important force in spreading Chinese culture and telling the story of Hangzhou well. Since 2022, the Hangzhou Overseas Chinese Affairs Office and the Federation of Overseas Chinese have continuously organized interviews with overseas Chinese media on the themes of "Hangzhou Asian Games", "Common Prosperity", and "Innovation and Entrepreneurship", promoting Hangzhou to the world and promoting Hangzhou, expanding Hangzhou's popularity, reputation and influence, and have become a brand activity in the Hangzhou overseas Chinese community.

Wang Xinyu shared with the three keywords "breaking the wall", "empathy" and "conversion". He said: "We must break the barriers of cultural exchanges with a broad mind that embraces all rivers, use the 'third eye' to decode Hangzhou's practice, and move forward together through exchanges and mutual learning; we must find empathy in cultural differences, make 'each beauty and beauty' become 'beauty and beauty', and use 'warm strength' to build the core of international cultural communication; transform Hangzhou elements such as 'Liangzhu Culture' into easy-to-accept ways and discourse systems for international audiences, and use international platform channels to tell good Chinese stories and spread Chinese voices."

Zhao Xinhao warmly welcomed the overseas Chinese media representatives who participated in this event. He said that the Chinese media, rooted overseas and spread all over the world, are witnesses, participants and recorders of the forging of the New China, and are an important force in serving the Chinese society, inheriting Chinese culture, and telling the stories of the motherland well. We look forward to the overseas Chinese media friends who can "resonate with the warm and in-depth Hangzhou stories with the world through this on-site visit, presenting Hangzhou's urban example of building a demonstration zone for high-quality development and common prosperity, and making it a wonderful butterfly change in the journey of building a world-class socialist modern international metropolis, so that overseas Chinese around the world can understand Hangzhou more comprehensively and fall in love with Hangzhou.

In the next 4 days, representatives of overseas Chinese media will visit Linping District, Lin'an District, and Tonglu County, focusing on innovative measures and practical achievements in the construction of urban examples in the common prosperity demonstration zone; appreciate Hangzhou's historical and cultural heritage, feel the unique charm of the thousand-year-old ancient capital; pay attention to Hangzhou's exploration and achievements in cutting-edge fields such as digital economy and green development.
