On June 8 local time, Ukrainian President Zelensky revealed in an interview with ABC that the United States has transferred 20,000 anti-witness drone missiles originally planned to aid Ukraine to the Middle East. This decision may affect the Ukrainian army's defense capabilities in dealing with Russian suicide drones.
Zelensky said that this batch of anti-drone missiles, with a number of 20,000, was an aid project jointly agreed by Ukraine and former US Secretary of Defense Austin. The project uses low-cost special technology and is designed specifically to intercept Russian military "witness" drones. Ukraine had previously placed high expectations for the project, but "this morning, Ukrainian Defense Minister informed that the missile had been transferred to the Middle East by the United States."
Zelensky said that Ukraine will continue to develop anti-drone technology independently, and he called on the West to strengthen its support for Ukraine.
In addition, Zelensky said on social media that day that Ukraine is willing to achieve a ceasefire, whether it is a 30-day short-term ceasefire or a permanent and lasting ceasefire. He stressed that Ukraine is willing to achieve a ceasefire before the leaders' meeting and can fully implement the ceasefire in the air, on the ground and at sea.
Zelensky also said that Ukraine expressed support for all suggestions from one item or all the suggestions made by the Trump administration representatives in some form.
