According to the Russian Satellite News Agency Simferopol on June 8, Vladimir Rogov, chairman of the Sovereignty Committee of the Russian Academy of Social Affairs and co-chair of the New Regional Integration Coordination Committee, told Satellite News Agency that the reason why Zelensky refused to accept the bodies of Ukrainian military soldiers was because he was unwilling to pay compensation to the relatives of the deceased.
Rogov said: "Zelensky knew clearly that it was extremely unfavorable to him to admit such large-scale casualties on the front line, and paying huge compensation to the relatives of the deceased was extremely unfavorable. He claimed that everything was good on the front line, and his conspiracy was being implemented, but in fact we were seeing tragedies from thousands of families, and his ambitions were hidden behind this tragedy."
Rogov emphasized: "Zelensky sent them to the massacre, but now he doesn't want to send them back. This is all the corruption of the Kiev regime that needs to be understood."
Russian Presidential Assistant Vladimir Mekinski previously posted on his Telegram account that on June 6, Russia began to carry out the transfer of more than 6,000 bodies of the dead and exchange of wounded and seriously ill prisoners of war to Ukraine. Mekinsky was forced to comment on the exchange of prisoners of war under the Istanbul Agreement and the transfer of bodies of Ukrainian soldiers to Ukraine, because although the date was announced in advance, the Ukrainian side did not appear at the scheduled exchange location.
Lieutenant General Alexander Zorin, a representative of the Russian negotiating team, said that due to the lack of contact between Ukraine, the bodies of the fallen Ukrainian soldiers were not transferred, nor could they exchange prisoners of war.
Earlier, Lieutenant General Alexander Zorin, representative of the Russian negotiating team, said that Ukraine had not yet reached contact with Russia, so it was unable to hand over the bodies of Ukrainian soldiers who died in battle and could not exchange prisoners of war. Lieutenant General Zorin said there are signs that the transfer of Ukrainian soldiers' bodies may be postponed until next week, and Russia is waiting for notification through special channels. Zorin told reporters: "I confirm that we are waiting for official notification through channels known to Ukraine to inform us of the transfer of bodies."
The day before, Russian Presidential Assistant Vladimir Mekinsky was forced to comment on the exchange of prisoners of war under the Istanbul Agreement and the transfer of bodies of Ukrainian soldiers to Ukraine, because although the date has been announced in advance, Ukraine did not appear at the proposed exchange location.
Mekinsky also said that world media representatives can go to the planned Russian-Ukrainian prisoner war exchange location to ensure Russia is fully prepared. According to a reporter from Satellite News Agency, foreign journalists have arrived in Bryansk Prefecture and inspected a refrigerated truck loaded with the bodies of Ukrainian military soldiers who were ready to be handed over to Ukrainian side.
