Los Angeles is in chaos! Trump ordered the deployment of the National Guard, Defense Secretary said it might dispatch troops

Xinhua News Agency, Los Angeles, June 7: US President Trump ordered the deployment of the National Guard to Los Angeles, California on the 7th to respond to the riots caused by the local search for illegal immigrants. The decision triggered a domestic rebound, which the Democrats called "deliberate incitement" to tensions.

Serious riots

White House Press Secretary Levitt said that Los Angeles' "illegal violations were condoned and worsened", and Trump ordered the deployment of 2,000 National Guard members to respond.

Law enforcement officers from federal agencies such as the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE) searched illegal immigrants on the 6th, raided at at least seven locations in Los Angeles, including shopping centers and factories, and arrested 44 people. During the operation, law enforcement personnel were surrounded by local community residents and physical conflicts continued. That night, about 500 protesters gathered in downtown Los Angeles, holding slogans such as "ICE Get Out of Los Angeles" and tried to rush into a detention center and clashed with local Los Angeles police who came to maintain order. Police used batons, tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse protesters, who fought back with bricks and stones.

Federal law enforcement officers continued to hunt down illegal immigrants in many places in Los Angeles County on the 7th, and had serious conflicts with local community residents for the second consecutive day. The most intense conflict of the day occurred in Paramount City, about 30 kilometers south of downtown Los Angeles, a Hispanic immigrant settlement area. Hundreds of fully armed federal law enforcement officers confronted hundreds of protesters and clashed. Law enforcement officers fired tear gas and shock bombs, and protesters threw stones and water bottles.

There are no reports of injuries to personnel at the scene of the conflict. Rep. Jose Louis Sorache, a California Legislative Councilman who represents Paramount, broadcasts the scene of the conflict live on social media platforms, saying that many people, including themselves, were attacked by tear gas. Sorache said the actions of federal law enforcement officers caused serious panic in the local community.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office said that local police did not participate in federal agencies' law enforcement operations on the 7th, but had announced that the gathering of protesters was an illegal rally and police forces would be dispatched to disperse.

Party Confrontation

Republican President Trump has a tough attitude towards illegal immigration. On the day he took office on January 20 this year, he announced a "national emergency" on the border between the southern United States and Mexico, and vowed to repatriate "millions" of illegal residences. He also signed an executive order requiring federal agencies to raid and deport illegal immigrants.

Caren Bass, a female Democratic mayor of Los Angeles, issued a statement on the 6th, condemning federal law enforcement officers for raiding illegal immigrants in Los Angeles, and expressed "deeply angered" at the law enforcement actions during the day on the 6th.

Lionce, acting director of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Bureau, said in a statement that Bass "supports riots and illegal acts rather than law enforcement actions", insisting that he would continue to arrest illegal immigrants.

Trump warned on his social media "Real Social" on the 7th that if Democrats California Governor Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Bass "cannot perform their duties and everyone knows they can't do it, then the federal government will step in to resolve the riots and looting."

Newson said that Trump's decision to deploy the National Guard was "deliberate incitement" and "will only increase tensions."

Defense Secretary Hegsesth warned on social media that violence and vandalism against federal agencies and facilities is “untolerable” and that the Department of Defense is “immediately mobilizing” the National Guard to Los Angeles. And, “if the violence continues, active-duty Marines at Pendleton Marine Corps Base (CA) will be mobilized, who are already on high alert.”
