IT Home June 7th news, SpaceX launched the Falcon 9 rocket from the SLC-40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Base, Florida in early Saturday morning local time, sending SiriusXM SXM-10 satellite into its scheduled orbit.
8.5 minutes after launch, the rocket first-stage booster landed on the Atlantic unmanned ship A Shortfall of Gravitas as planned; 33 minutes after launch, the satellite was successfully deployed to the geosynchronous transfer orbit.
This is the 125th orbital launch and the 69th Falcon 9 launch mission in 2025. It is also the second time SpaceX has provided launch for SiriusXM in nearly 6 months (the previous launch of the SXM-9 satellite in early December 2024), and it is also the 8th flight of the flight booster B1085.
SXM-10 is the 11th high-power digital audio radio broadcast satellite created by Maxar (SSL) for SiriusXM, weighing about 14,100 pounds (IT Home Note: approximately 6395.65 kg).
SXM-10 satellite is based on Maxar mature 1300 The rated platform, built at a manufacturing plant in Palo Alto, California, is equipped with a large mesh deployable reflector nearly 10 meters in diameter, allowing SiriusXM's programs to be transmitted to its radios, including those in mobile vehicles.
