Recently, the content of Luigi Mangione's diary was made public, revealing his plan to assassinate United Health Insurance CEO Brian Thompson.

Court documents show that after the police chased Luigi for five days, a red notebook diary was found from him. The diary records his planning and motivation for the December 2024 murder case, and also mentions his thoughts on the university bomber Kaczynsky. In his August 2024 diary, Luigi said he was "full of confidence" in the plan and believed that it was "correct and reasonable".

In his October 2024 diary, he marked the countdown to the attack "1.5 months", and believed that using bombs and other actions would disperse information and would not be recognized by the public. Thompson was shot and killed outside the Hilton Hotel in Midtown Manhattan on December 4 last year. Surveillance shows that Luigi followed Thompson the night before. The words on the bullets and shells on the site are related to the Medicare claim.
Luigi has many followers after his arrest, and his supporters donated millions of dollars to his legal fund. Although he was charged, he pleaded not guilty to state and federal charges, and if convicted, federal prosecutors plan to seek death penalty. His next court appearance on state charges is June 26.
