On June 5, the Guangxi-Japan Economic and Trade Cooperation Exchange Conference, co-organized by the Guangxi Council for the Promotion of International Trade and Japan Association for the Promotion of International Trade, was held in Nanning.

It has held special events in countries such as Uzbekistan, Turkey, New Zealand, Pakistan, and South Korea, effectively promoting pragmatic cooperation between China and foreign trade. As one of the first "Guitong Five Continents" series of activities held by the Guangxi Council for the Promotion of International Trade this year, this exchange meeting was held against the background of the Osaka World Expo in Japan. It will deepen bilateral exchanges and cooperation between Guangxi and Japan, promote economic, trade and cultural cooperation to a wider field and deeper level, and promote the high-quality implementation of RCEP between the two sides.
At the meeting, the Guangxi Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the Japan Association for the Promotion of International Trade signed a memorandum of cooperation. Representatives of Chinese and Japanese enterprises made promotions of business opportunities in economic and trade cooperation. During the event, Japanese companies and Guangxi companies conducted group exchanges and docking according to industry to further understand the needs and cooperation opportunities of both parties, and promote in-depth cooperation between the two parties in the fields of trade, tourism, steel, medicine, construction, logistics, transportation, software engineering and talent training. During the meeting, 24 companies from Guangxi and Japan displayed their own special products outside the venue, including robots, drones, Nixing pottery, jasmine tea, Liubao tea, snail noodles, glutinous rice and yellow wine, intangible cultural heritage clothing, medical products, etc., which attracted widespread attention and in-depth exchanges among participants.

It is reported that China is Japan's largest trading partner, the second largest export target country and the largest source of imports. Japan is China's fourth largest trading partner, second largest export target country and source country of import. In 2024, the total import and export trade between Guangxi and Japan was approximately 6.684 billion yuan, an increase of 10.8% year-on-year. As of the end of 2024, Guangxi enterprises have invested 10 in Japan, with an agreed investment of US$4.82 million and an actual investment of US$1.14 million. There are 88 Japanese companies in Guangxi, with a contract investment of US$269.22 million and an actual investment of US$127.45 million.
The Japan Association for the Promotion of International Trade is one of the Sino-Japanese friendly groups. Under the leadership of previous presidents, it has visited China for 47 consecutive groups, becoming an important channel for China-Japan economic exchanges. It owns more than 500 internationally renowned companies (including Fortune 500 companies) including Hitachi Products, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Mitsui Metals and International Cooperation Bank. Over the years, the Japan International Trade Promotion Association has organized member companies to actively participate in the China International Supply Chain Promotion Expo, the China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit and other activities, providing support for various delegations in Guangxi to visit Japan.
