According to local media reports, a 22-year-old Singaporean man is facing up to seven years in prison and a fine of US$50,000 (D$183,500) on a bomb threatening remark on a flight to Abu Dhabi.

On February 14, 2025, the young man posted a post on his social media account claiming that he "wanted to blow up the plane".
The Singapore Police Force said that within one hour of the post they successfully identified the man and confirmed that he had boarded a flight to Abu Dhabi.
Singapore police said: "The plane had already taxied on the runway and was about to take off. It was immediately recalled to Changi Airport Terminal 2, and the man was also arrested by the police. The investigation showed that after boarding the plane, the man was suspected of posting a statement on social media that 'No one here knew I was going to blow up the plane'. But he did not find any threatening items on him."
As of now, Singapore police have not disclosed the name of the airline. The UAE, Singapore and many foreign airlines operate daily flights between the UAE and Singapore.
Singapore police stressed that the man was prosecuted on June 5, 2025 for the spread of harmful false information, with a maximum sentence of 7 years or a fine of US$50,000, or both.
