On June 7, Thai Army spokesman Wen Tai said that the commander of the Thai Army General Pana has signed an order to authorize the commanders of the two border task forces, Burapha and Suranaree, to fully control the right to open and close all relevant ports on the Thai-Cambodia border.

Under the order, the commanders of the two task force have the right to formulate and implement relevant measures, procedures and management conditions based on the security situation in each region.

It is reported that the measure was made after the National Security Council passed a resolution on June 6. The resolution assigned the Thai Army to supervise the operation of border gates to safeguard national security. All relevant agencies must strictly abide by the instructions issued by the Army.

Wente pointed out that although Thailand has been working hard to ease border tensions through peaceful means, Cambodia continues to increase its troops and set up military bases near the border. The new order aims to defend Thailand's sovereignty and maintain order and security in border areas.
