Trump told reporters on Air Force One Friday (June 6) that the candidate for the next Federal Reserve Chairman will be announced soon. When asked whether former Fed director Kevin Walsh is a popular candidate, Trump said: "He received a high evaluation."
Under the law, the candidate for Fed chair nominations for the U.S. president must be approved by the Senate. Trump nominated in November 2017 for current Federal Reserve Chairman Powell, who took office in February 2018 and was re-elected during the 2022 former Biden president, whose term will end in May 2026.
