Just on the eve of the second round of Sino-US negotiations, the US mainland suddenly became in chaos, and law enforcement officers and American people "matched together" in California. The Trump administration even considered dispatching US troops. Why did this happen?

Someday, US President Trump finally called Beijing, not only determined the location and time of the next round of Sino-US negotiations, but also received an invitation from China to visit. However, just when Trump was relieved, something happened in the United States. Starting from June 6 local time, federal departments such as the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) launched a large-scale campaign against illegal immigrants in California, but were strongly blocked and boycotted by local residents, and eventually evolved into street confrontation, chaos and conflict. On June 8, the conflict reached its peak, demonstrators attacked California police with fireworks and other items, which fired with non-lethal weapons, turning California streets into battlefields. In response, Trump announced the dispatch of 2,000 National Guards to quell the riots. At the same time, the US Marine Corps has also entered a state of mobilization and is ready to go out at any time.

So, how do you view this incident?

Some analysts believe that the continued escalation of the situation in California is likely to be a "test" by Trump. On the one hand, California, as the base of the Democratic Party, has repeatedly rushed to the forefront of "opposing Trump", but has not taken substantial confrontational measures. In last year's US election, when Biden was put under pressure from the top Democratic leaders, the most popular replacement was California Governor Newsom, but he was unwilling to run for the election. In desperation, the Democratic Party could only launch Harris, who was recognized as having no ability, and ended up suffering the biggest defeat of the century. Since then, California has encountered large-scale wildfires, Newsom has basically failed to respond and has been severely criticized by all walks of life in the United States for being "incompetent". These situations highlight Newsom's nature of "forgeting life when you see small profits, and cherishing your body when you do big things." Therefore, Trump took the lead in choosing to "increase his investment" and put extreme pressure on the Democratic base camp by taking advantage of the actions of California people to boycott ICE.

On the other hand, the Trump administration is in a bad situation and they need an opportunity to divert attention. On the outside, the Trump administration has clearly fallen at a disadvantage in the tariff war against China and can only call China on its own initiative, which is likely to have made greater concessions than the previous Geneva talks. As for Japan, South Korea, Canada and other countries that Trump regards as "soft persimmons", none of them has reached a trade agreement with the United States; on the other hand, Trump's important ally Musk has parted ways with him because of his opposition to the "Big and US" bill. In this case, the sudden California incident was seen by Trump as an opportunity. He directly bypassed the state-level government and used the National Guard, probably because he intends to escalate the situation and find excuses for his next strong action.

Moreover, Trump has vigorously promoted the "deportation of illegal immigrants" since he came to power, but the U.S. Constitution clearly stipulates that "all people born in the United States or who are under their jurisdiction are citizens of the United States and the states they live in." If Trump wants to achieve his intentions at the legal level, he needs to specifically legislate, propose amendments through relevant congressional committees, and then submit them to each state. However, the amendment needs two-thirds of the members to be approved by Congress to pass, and this step alone is almost impossible. At the state level, the amendment needs to be passed by three-quarters of the state legislatures in the United States before it can take effect. Obviously, under normal circumstances, it is extremely difficult for Trump to "expel illegal immigrants", which is unacceptable to him who is very happy about his achievements. He is likely to seek other means to fight against the Democratic Party.
