In order to popularize meteorological science knowledge and stimulate young people's interest in natural science, on June 7, the Mengzi Municipal Meteorological Bureau launched the "Exploring the Mysteries of Meteorological and Perceiving the Changes of the Storm and Clouds" parent-child meteorological science popularization activity, attracting more than 100 young people and parents to participate. Through various forms such as on-site visits, expert explanations, hands-on practice, the event opened a window for young people participating in the event to understand meteorological science, effectively improving young people's scientific literacy and disaster prevention and reduction awareness.

During the activity, parents and children walked into the meteorological observation field to watch the air balloon, temperature, pressure, wind speed and other observation equipment, as well as artificial weather-affecting vehicles. The tour guide used vivid language to reveal the working principle of the instrument. The children listened and took notes from time to time, and the on-site interaction was enthusiastic.
Student Ma Yimeng said: "Today I have known many instruments about meteorology and feel very novel. I also answered a question in the question, which makes me very proud. I hope I can continue to participate in such an event next time."

Afterward, during the meteorological knowledge lecture, experts from the Municipal Meteorological Observatory systematically explained the weather forecast production process, and focused on explaining the early warning signals and key points of common meteorological disasters such as heavy rain, thunder, and high temperatures. During the manual practice session, the family group jointly produced simple meteorological instruments: the children focused on splicing parts, parents helped to fix the structure, and the atmosphere on the scene was lively and warm.
Student Duan Xiyue said: "Through today's activities, I learned how to use rockets to increase artificial rain, and learned how to view warning signals for different weather. I like the process of making wind meters by hand. I can take the wind meter home. Today I also experienced the broadcast of the weather as an anchor, which feels very cool."
Li Jinyan, a student parent, said: "I think this activity not only allows children to learn meteorological knowledge intuitively, but also trains their hands-on skills. I hope to participate in this parent-child activity in the future and learn more about meteorological knowledge."
This parent-child science popularization activity organically combines meteorological knowledge with interesting practice, not only provides an immersive learning platform for young people, but also enhances scientific exploration and exchanges between parents and children. In the future, the Mengzi Municipal Meteorological Bureau will continue to carry out diversified science popularization activities to help improve the scientific literacy of the whole people.
