The United States' attitude changed drastically, and Lai Ching-te was anxious. Just as the Liaoning aircraft carrier formation was approaching Guam, the United States' attitude towards Taiwan had undergone another major change, and 66 F-16V fighter jets that had already signed military purchase contracts were deducted. In 2019, the United States and Taiwan signed a military purchase contract of up to US$8.1 billion. According to this contract, the United States will deliver 65 F-16V fighter jets to Taiwan by the end of 2026. Although according to the contract, the United States will complete the delivery of all 66 F-16V fighter jets by the end of 2026. But on the one hand, the United States continues to deliver F-16V fighter jets to the Philippines and other countries, while on the other hand, it continues to postpone the delivery time to Taiwan. Especially this time, the so-called technical problem is expected to postpone the delivery time from the end of 2026 to 2028. At present, the main fighter of the Taiwan Air Force is the third-generation fighter Phantom 2000 produced by France. After the Indian-Pakistan air battle, the mainland's third-generation fighter J-10CE shot down the gust of the fifth-generation fighter jet of France, causing huge panic among the DPP authorities.

Previously, a female pilot in Taiwan once threatened to shoot down the fourth-generation fighter on the mainland by flying Taiwan's self-produced 2.5-generation fighter. After accepting the first F-16V fighter jet, the Taiwan Air Force even said that it could easily shoot down the J-20. As a result, Americans simply ignored Taiwan's desire for F-16V, and the delivery time was delayed again and again. Taiwan's leader Lai Ching-te is probably already very scared about this. In fact, it is not surprising that the United States has delayed the delivery of the F-16V. At the same time, the US State Department has announced that it has refused to sell E-2D early warning aircraft to Taiwan.

First of all, from Tsai Ing-wen to Lai Ching-te, the DPP authorities "kneeled on the United States and sold Taiwan", Americans are not worried about contract disputes due to the delayed delivery of F-16V. Secondly, at the time of the Sino-US tariff war, the United States urgently needs to reach an agreement with China and is unwilling to anger the mainland on the Taiwan issue. Even the F-16V, even the F-35 cannot change the comparison of military strength between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait.
