The Ukrainian prisoner treatment coordination headquarters said that regarding the exchange of prisoners of war, in accordance with the negotiation consensus reached by Ukraine and Russia in Istanbul, Turkey, Ukraine has submitted a list of exchange personnel to Russia, which involves the exchange of seriously injured and seriously ill soldiers and captured soldiers under 25 years old. The list of exchange personnel submitted by Russia is inconsistent with the agreed plan. Ukraine has put forward opinions and is waiting for a response from Russia.
The Ukrainian prisoner treatment coordination headquarters also said that although the two sides have reached a consensus on the exchange of bodies of dead soldiers, they have not reached an agreement on the exchange date. Ukraine is willing to continue its work under the framework of personnel exchange that has been reached and calls on Russia to return to "constructive" work, implement consensus and exchange personnel in the next few days.
Andrey Yusov, deputy director of the Ukrainian prisoner treatment coordination headquarters, posted on social media on the same day that Russia spread the remarks that Ukrainian side delayed the exchange of bodies of prisoners of war and dead soldiers in order to put pressure on the Ukrainian negotiating delegation. Relevant negotiations are still in progress, and Ukraine will continue to adhere to and implement the consensus announced publicly in Istanbul.
Mekinsky, head of the Russian negotiating delegation and assistant to the Russian president, posted on social media on the 7th that Russia had transported the bodies of some of the dead in Ukraine to an agreed location on the border between the two countries, but Ukraine personnel did not arrive and postponed the time to receive the bodies of the dead and exchange prisoners of war indefinitely.
According to the TASS on the 7th, citing Alexander Zorin, a member of the Russian negotiating delegation, the first batch of 1,212 bodies of the dead of Ukrainians have arrived in the exchange area; there are three trains, each carrying 1,200 bodies of Ukrainians, and a convoy of automobiles carrying 1,200 bodies are preparing to set off in the near future. The total number of bodies Russia plans to transfer to Ukraine exceeds 6,000.
At later on the 7th, Fu Ming, a member of the Russian negotiating delegation and deputy minister of the Russian Ministry of Defense, issued a video statement saying that Russia is not clear about the reason why Ukraine delayed the transfer of bodies of the dead.
