On June 7, Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Anutin said he would continue to serve as Home Minister and stressed that there was no need to conduct new negotiation arrangements for cabinet positions, because the Thai Pride Party, which he led, was initially invited to join the ruling coalition.
Anutin's statement came after rumors that the ruling Pheu Thai Party intends to take over the Ministry of the Interior for weeks to strive for more effective services to the local people and prepare for the next general election.
His response was seen as a clear position on the negotiations on the distribution of power in the Thai government, indicating that the Thai Pride Party does not intend to give up key cabinet positions at this stage.
