IT Home June 7th news, technology media Android Authority published a blog post yesterday (June 6th), reporting that another incident of Pixel 6a mobile phone melting due to overheating of the battery. Google has replaced the Pixel 8a mobile phone for the owner as compensation.
IT Home reported in May this year that there were many "spontaneous combustion" incidents on the Pixel 6a, and Reddit user zaliver posted that his Pixel 6a "spontaneous combustion" at night. The phone uses a non-original charger when charging. The user claims to have used the charger for more than a year without any problems. The phone is still in a protective case.
Now netizen Arielle has feedback again that the Pixel 6a phone was completely destroyed due to overheating of the battery. She said the incident happened at 4 a.m. and she was awakened by an overheating alarm from her phone while she was sleeping.
As soon as the alarm sounded, she heard a "pop" burst, and then she smelled a pungent burning smell. She quickly rushed to the phone, but found it was too late: the phone case had melted and stuck to the clothes, the screen was separated from the body, and all internal components were damaged. If it is not handled in time, the consequences will be unimaginable and may cause a fire.
According to Arielle, the phone was charging using a non-origin charger when the accident occurred. This is consistent with the previous Pixel A series of similar events.
Arielle purchased this Pixel 6a through Google Fi in 2023. After the incident, she quickly contacted Google Fi customer service, after hours of communication and submitting photos, she finally received a reply, and Google decided to replace her with a Pixel 8a as compensation.
