According to the US Newsweek website on June 6, a Russian official said the country is willing to provide political asylum to US billionaire Elon Musk. At present, Musk has a fierce dispute with US President Trump.
Dmitry Novikov, First Vice-Chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the Russian State Duma (Slower House of Parliament), made the above remarks to the Russian official news agency TASS.
Novikov said: "I think Musk is playing a big game, (so) he doesn't need any political asylum, but if he needs it, Russia can certainly provide it." Newsweek emphasized that this sentence was translated from Russian.
Musk and Trump were political allies jointly pushing for cuts in federal spending, but recently clashed publicly. On June 5, the two had multiple confrontations on social media and expressed their opinions to reporters, and the conflict further escalated.
White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt told Newsweek on the 5th: "This is an unpleasant episode for Elon. He is dissatisfied with the Big and American Act because it does not contain the policies he wants. The president is committed to promoting this historic bill to make our country great again."
It is not clear how the Trump and Musk dispute will develop in the future.
