[Dian News Report] A Thai man urinated on the streets of Singapore and was caught by law enforcement officers. In order to avoid the ticket, the man took out 7 Singapore dollars (about 42 Hong Kong dollars) to bribe law enforcement officers, but was sentenced to 10 days in prison.
Comprehensive report, the man was 54 years old and went to Singapore to work in 2017. At about 7 p.m. on December 17 last year, he chose to urinate in the ditches on the side of the road for convenience. He was later discovered by two nearby National Environment Agency law enforcement officers. The two stepped forward to indicate their identities, told the man that the behavior was illegal, and were preparing to issue a ticket.
The man attempted to bribe law enforcement officers in order to avoid tickets. He claimed that people often urinate here, and then took out 7 yuan in cash, asking the two to accept it and let him go. The report said the bribery process was less than 30 seconds, but the man tried to bribe two at least three times. Law enforcement officers said that accepting bribes would damage Singapore's hard-won reputation for integrity, so they urged the judge to sentence him to 7 to 10 days in prison.
The defendant apologized to the court when he pleaded for mercy and promised not to commit it again. He was eventually sentenced to 10 days in prison.
