June 5 is World Environment Day. The China Association for Science and Technology Ecological Environment Industry-Academic Consortium (hereinafter referred to as the "Consortium") released the top ten scientific and technological progress in China's ecological environment in 2024 in Beijing. The scientific and technological progress released this time covers multiple fields such as the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau permafrost, global soil microbial source carbon estimation, my country's urban ground subsidence pattern, and pollution reduction and carbon reduction in the Yellow River Basin.
“These are the latest cutting-edge achievements in the field of ecological and environmental science and technology in my country. They have huge transformation potential and application value, and can provide solid scientific basis and technical support for the construction of a beautiful China and the high-quality development of green, low-carbon and high-quality development of the Chinese Society of Environmental Sciences. Academician Wang Jinnan, Chairman of the Consortium and Chairman of the Chinese Society of Environmental Science, said at the press conference that in recent years, high-level scientific and technological achievements in the field of ecological and environmental environment have been continuously emerging, with high-level paper output and technical patents in the world. An ecological and environmental science and technology support system covering key areas such as water, atmosphere, soil, solid waste, and environmental monitoring has been built. The overall technology supply has been independent and controllable, basically meeting my country's ecological and environmental protection needs.
The top ten progress released this time are specifically: the response mechanism of the permafrost carbon cycle in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau to climate warming; the evolution laws and regulation principles of key atmospheric components under climate change; the development and application of multi-factor intelligent perception and large-model forecasting systems for environmental meteorology; the development and application of EPICC-Model integrated coupling model EPICC-Model and its open source release; the new formula for estimating carbon source of global soil microbials and its impact on carbon cycle; the study of the pattern and mechanism of urban ground subsidence in my country; the mechanism of action of climate change and terrestrial ecosystems; the theory of progressive ecological restoration and river restoration practice; the key technologies and applications of coordinated emission reduction of intelligent flue gas carbon pollution; the Yellow River Basin capacity-reducing-carbon reduction technology system and application.
Academician Zhang Yuanhang, Vice Chairman of the Consortium, introduced that the top ten scientific and technological progress were recommended by academicians of the two academies, member units of the consortium, universities and research institutes, and 14 academicians formed a jury to evaluate and vote. This year is the sixth consecutive year of release. He believes that the scientific and technological progress released over the years has played a positive role in leading technological innovation in the field of ecological environment, encouraging scientific research on ecological environment, raising public environmental awareness, and creating an innovation atmosphere in the whole society.
It is reported that the consortium is a collaborative innovation organization jointly initiated and established by 11 national societies in the fields of environment, ecology, meteorology, geography, agriculture, forestry, soil, geology, ocean, water conservancy, and renewable energy, as well as well as well as well-known enterprises, academic research institutions and social organizations in the field of ecological environment.
