On June 4, the Damo Tunnel of the Liuwu Railway, invested and constructed by Guangxi Transportation Investment Group and constructed by China Construction Eighth Bureau, was completed on the same day with Xicun No. 2 Tunnel. The project construction pressed the "acceleration key".

Damo Tunnel is 1093 meters long, and Xicun No. 2 Tunnel is 2213 meters long. Both are located in remote mountainous areas with dangerous terrain. Both tunnels are facing extremely difficult geological challenges. The proportion of Class IV and V surrounding rocks in Damo Tunnel accounts for as high as 80%, and the proportion of this type of surrounding rock in Xicun No. 2 Tunnel also accounts for 65%. The rock mass is generally broken and the surrounding rock is poor. Due to factors such as the depth of the tunnel and the development of groundwater, the risk of collapse and blocks may occur at any time. The tunnel construction road is as long as 20 kilometers long and requires crossing villages and residents' gathering points many times. It is difficult to organize and coordinate material transportation and transportation, and the safety risks are high.
Faced with many difficulties, the Liuwu Railway Project Construction Team scientifically coordinated resources and refined task goals. During the construction process, the team strictly implements advance geological forecasts, strengthens monitoring and measurement management, fully implements advance support and drainage measures, and uses information technology to accurately monitor the entire construction process. In terms of safety management, we will implement penetrating management, strengthen safety education and training and special inspections, promptly check and eliminate safety hazards, and provide solid guarantees for the safety, quality and efficient promotion of tunnel construction.

As of now, 49 tunnels on the Liuwu Railway have been penetrated. The project construction team will make every effort to accelerate the subsequent construction tasks such as arches, second linings and gutter cable troughs, creating favorable conditions for the upcoming beam and track laying operations.
