On June 1, local time, the acting governor of Kursk Prefecture, Russia posted on a social platform that a bridge in the state collapsed when a freight train passed by.
This is the second bridge collapse accident in Russia within 24 hours.
On the evening of May 31, a bridge collapsed in Bryansk Prefecture, western Russia, causing a passenger train to derail. Bryansk Governor Bogomaz said the incident had killed at least seven people and another 30 were sent to the hospital for treatment.
Moscow Railway Company stated that "illegal interference with transportation activities" caused the bridge to collapse, causing the passenger train from Moscow to derail.
