IT Home June 9th news, MEMS micro-electromechanical company xMEMS Labs released the Sycamore-W near-field MEMS speaker last month. This product is only 1.28mm thick and only 150mg of mass, which is about 30% and about 5% of traditional coil speakers respectively.
Sycamore-W is specially designed for smart watches, sports bracelets and other smart wrist wear devices with limited space. The length and width are 20mm×4mm, the space occupies 70% less than traditional designs on the inside of the case, while still providing high-quality, full-range µFidelity high-fidelity sound effects.
In addition, due to its all-silicon physical properties, Sycamore-W has component-level IP58 dust-proof and waterproof and 10,000g mechanical impact resistance, which is suitable for sports and outdoor smartwatches and fitness bracelets.
IT Home learned that Sycamore-W has now provided samples to early customers, and is expected to be 2026 Mass production in the second quarter of 2019. xMEMS will also release more Sycamore series products optimized for other specific applications in the second half of this year.
