The reporter saw at the scene that during the conflict, National Guard personnel fired tear gas and rubber bullets to try to disperse the protesters, but the number of protesters increased, from the initial dozens to more than 200. The protesters were emotionally excited and kept shouting loudly for the National Guard and the police. Some protesters threw water bottles and stones at National Guard personnel, and some picked up tear gas and threw them back.
A Xinhua reporter who was interviewing on the scene was hit by a tear gas on the arm. The photographer was hit by a rubber bullet with red and swollen scars.
