On June 8 local time, the Israeli Defense Forces issued a statement saying that the body of Muhammad Singwar, a military leader of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), was found in the underground tunnel of the European Hospital in Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip. The statement stated that his identity confirmation process was completed. Mohamed Singwar is the younger brother of the late Hamas leader Yehaya Singwar. Mohamad Singwar became Hamas' military leadership in the Gaza Strip after Yehaiya Singwar and former Hamas military leader Mohammed Dave died in Israeli operations last year.
