To be honest, I couldn't help but feel a little nervous when I saw the news of the negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. Imagine that at the negotiating table in Istanbul, Turkey, representatives from two belligerent countries put down their tense attitude and discuss specific life issues. This scene is both incredible and full of a heavy sense of reality.

1. Six thousand bodies: the concreteization of the pain of war
The news announced by Meginsky, assistant to the Russian president and head of the Russian negotiating delegation, is every word is very important. Next week, Russia will unilaterally hand over the bodies of 6,000 dead soldiers to Ukraine. The number 6000 is not a simple statistical symbol, but 6000 once alive lives, and behind it are 6000 broken families. They may be the pillars of the family, the children held by their parents in their palms, but they lost their lives in the smoke of war. Russia's choice of unilateral transfer is to some extent, in the cruel war, torn a hole in human nature, allowing people to see that even between opposing camps, the most basic respect for life has never disappeared.
The exchange principle of seriously injured soldiers "for all" is even more touching. Russia and Ukraine decided to set up a medical committee to deal with the exchange of seriously injured people. This means that every soldier who fell on the battlefield and was seriously injured, no matter which side he came from, had the opportunity to return to his camp and receive better treatment and care. War may be cruel, but in this decision, we see the persistence of the value of life and the glory of humanitarianism beyond the hatred of war.
2. The future of young prisoners of war: the dawn of hope
The exchange agreement between prisoners of war under 25 years old is also eye-catching. At least 1,000 young prisoners of war will be exchanged. These young people, whose lives have just begun, have become prisoners because of the war. War deprived them of their right to grow freely and cast a shadow on their youth. Now, this exchange agreement is like a beam of light shining into their dark lives. For these young prisoners of war, returning to their hometown means they can embrace life again, regain their dreams, and make up for the time they lost in the war.
Recalling the negotiations on May 16, the two sides reached an agreement on exchange of 1,000 prisoners of war. To this day, there is a more comprehensive exchange plan covering more groups and a more comprehensive exchange plan. Although the core issue of ceasefire has not yet been touched, every advancement of prisoners of war exchange is to accumulate trust for peace negotiations and to take a small step towards peace.
III. Mediation memorandum: The possibility of peace
The draft mediation memorandum on the Ukraine issue transferred by the Russian side is undoubtedly a highlight of the negotiation. The memorandum is divided into two parts, partly discussing how to achieve a truly lasting peace, and the other part proposes a variety of plans for a comprehensive ceasefire. Although Ukraine said it would take a week to study, its emergence has brought new hope to the stalemate Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
It means that Russia not only competes on the battlefield, but also begins to systematically propose solutions at the negotiating table. Of course, the road to peace is doomed to be difficult. The contradictions and differences between Russia and Ukraine have been around for a long time. From territorial disputes to geopolitical interests, every issue is complicated. But the existence of this memorandum at least shows people the possibility of a peaceful resolution of conflict and the determination of both sides to work for peace.

From the handover of six thousand bodies, to the exchange of young prisoners of war, to the proposal of a mediation memorandum, although this round of Russia-Ukraine negotiations has not completely resolved the conflict, every achievement conveys a signal: the war will end one day, and the hope of peace has never been extinguished. In this uncertain world, these negotiation results are like little stars, illuminating people's expectations for peace.
