Early this morning, iPadOS 26 was officially launched, introducing a new design and a more powerful and intuitive new window system; file processing, audio and video experience have major improvements. Apple has now officially announced the models that will be adapted to iPadOS 26.
Officially stated that iPadOS 26 will be launched in the form of free software updates this fall for iPad Pro (M4), 12.9-inch iPad Pro (3rd and subsequent models), 11-inch iPad Pro (1st and subsequent models), iPad Air (M2 and subsequent models), iPad Air (3rd and subsequent models), iPad (A16), iPad (8th and subsequent models), iPad mini (A17 Pro) and iPad mini (5th and subsequent models).
iPadOS 26 launches a more intuitive new window system, allowing users to smoothly adjust the size of the App window, place it exactly where they want, and open more windows at the same time. If the user has resized the App window and then opened it again, the window will restore the size and position that was last adjusted. With Exposé four fingers swipe down, users can quickly expand to view all open windows and easily switch to the required windows. The new window system can be used with front-end dispatch to help users organize windows into different groups, or can be used with external monitors.
iPadOS 26 introduces a new way to process files. The fully upgraded File App updates the list view for users to view more document information in resizable columns and foldable folders. To make folders more visible, the File App also provides folder customization options, including custom colors, icons, and emojis, etc., and synchronizes between different devices. Users can now drag and drop any folder from the File App to the Dock for faster access.
iPad has ushered in the preview app. Users can directly use the preview app to access all PDFs and pictures in the file app, create blank pages, use Apple Pencil to draw and write on blank pages, and quickly fill in PDF forms using the automatic filling function.
In addition, iPadOS has launched a new audio function, and users can now further control the audio input and select different microphones for different apps and websites. Voice highlighting technology can block ambient noise and make the recording clear and transparent.
