IT Home reported on June 10 that the Broadband Development Alliance released the "China Broadband Rate Status Report" last week (Issue 38), and released the broadband user experience rate in my country in the fourth quarter of 2024.
The broadband user experience rate is different from the broadband access rate that reflects the user's broadband network access capability. It refers to the rate that users actually feel when downloading files from the Internet, accessing Internet videos, browsing web pages and other applications.
The report shows that in the fourth quarter of 2024, my country's average download rate (user experience) of fixed broadband networks reached 99.14Mbit/s, an increase of 3.51% month-on-month and 15.26Mbit/s year-on-year, and an annual increase of 18.2%.
In the fourth quarter of 2024, the comprehensive average download rate (user experience) of mobile broadband users in my country when accessing the Internet using 4G and 5G networks reached 157.53Mbit/s, an increase of 21.78% year-on-year.
Since the "14th Five-Year Plan", my country has built the world's largest and leading fixed and mobile broadband network. As of the end of 2024, the fiber optic access (FTTH/O) ports reached 96.5%. The Gigabit Optical Network fully covers urban households and realizes "gigabit access to counties and counties". The number of 10G PON ports with gigabit access capabilities reached 28.2 million, accounting for nearly 80% of the global gigabit access ports, and the number of gigabit and above broadband users reached 207 million, accounting for 30.9% of the total number of users and nearly 70% of the global gigabit broadband users.
The number of 5G base stations has reached 4.251 million, achieving "5G connections to the countryside". The number of 5G mobile phone users has reached 1.014 billion, accounting for 56.7% of mobile phone users. Two-thirds of the prefecture-level cities in the country have built "gigabit cities". With the continuous and rapid development of broadband networks, my country's broadband user experience has also been significantly improved. The download rate of fixed broadband users has increased by 1.86 times compared with the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan. The mobile broadband network experience rate has increased from 67.33Mbit/s to 157.53Mbit/s within three years.
IT Home noted that this report also released relevant information on broadband network speeds of provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities), major cities and basic telecommunications companies across the country.
In terms of fixed broadband download rates, Shanghai, Tianjin and Beijing rank in the top three in the country, followed by Zhejiang and Jiangsu. Among all basic telecommunications companies, China Telecom has the highest level, with the average fixed broadband download rate of users across the country reaching 99.69Mbit/s.
In terms of mobile broadband download rates, the download rates of mobile broadband network users in Shanghai, Beijing, Tianjin, Zhejiang and Jiangsu rank among the top five provincial administrative regions in the country; among all basic telecommunications companies, China Mobile is the highest, and the average download rate of mobile broadband network users across the country reached 160.38Mbit/s.
In addition, the report also released the mobile broadband user experience rate of different network standards in my country in the fourth quarter of 2024, among which users use The comprehensive average download rate when 4G network accesses the Internet is 47.41Mbit/s, and the comprehensive average download rate when 5G network accesses the Internet is 248.68Mbit/s.
The average rate of mobile broadband users using 4G networks to access the Internet increased by 9.04% year-on-year compared with the fourth quarter of 2023, and the average rate of using 5G networks to access the Internet increased by 8.71% year-on-year compared with the fourth quarter of 2023.
