CCTV News: According to the WeChat official account of "Ye County Media", on June 9, the Ye County Emergency Management Bureau of Pingdingshan City, Henan Province issued a situation report. At around 22:43 pm on June 8, 2025, the lower part of the low-pressure nitrogen balloon tank of the air separation device of China Pingmei Shenma Group Nylon Technology Co., Ltd. suddenly tore, causing one on-site staff to be seriously injured and three were slightly injured. The injured person was sent to Pingmei Shenma General Hospital for emergency treatment as soon as possible. At 7:40 on June 9, a seriously injured person died after failed rescue in the hospital. The other three minor injured persons were discharged from the hospital after being hospitalized and observed at around 5:00 on June 9.
When the metal tearing sound penetrates the night sky at 22:43, it is not just the failure of a single device. The lower part of the ball tank that should have been under pressure actually suffered structural damage. This abnormal failure mode implies major hidden dangers such as material fatigue, welding defects or overpressure operation; what is even more alarming is that key facilities such as air separation devices have become high-risk risk points. The tragedy of the explosion of the air separation device of the Yima Gasification Plant six years ago is still vivid in my mind, and the country has long issued a special investigation notice requiring strengthening monitoring.

The seriously injured person still died after 9 hours of rescue, while the minor injured person was discharged from the hospital on the same day, indicating that the energy release in the instantaneous accident is directional, which should be consistent with the failure characteristics of specific parts of the spherical tank. Although emergency parking has avoided a series of explosions, Pingmei Shenma Group, the company involved, as the leader, has an accident in the air separation device supporting its nylon industry chain, which may expose the imbalance between expansion of production capacity and maintenance investment.
