On June 9, local time, Mexican President Sinbaum delivered a speech condemning the violence that occurred in large-scale protests against immigrant raids and searches in Los Angeles, the United States, and called on the U.S. authorities to abide by the principles of the rule of law in immigration procedures.
Sinbaum pointed out that some arrested people do not have legal immigration documents, but they have lived in the United States for more than five years. Sinbaum calls Mexican immigrants in the United States “heroes” because they support their families in Mexico through hard work. At the same time, Sinbaum pointed out that the US economy needs the production labor brought by immigration, including technical talents, etc. Most of the wealth created by immigrants in the United States remains in the United States, and called on the US side not to "criminalize" immigration. Finally, Sinbaum reiterated the unwavering commitment of the Mexican government to immigration and would protect and defend the human rights of Mexicans overseas, regardless of their immigration status. Mexico calls on the U.S. authorities to require all immigration procedures to be carried out in accordance with the law and due process.
At the same time, Mexican Foreign Minister De La Fuente said that after the Los Angeles immigration raid, at least 42 Mexican citizens were detained in four detention centers, and the vast majority of detained Mexican citizens were working at the time of arrest, of which four had been deported.
