In accordance with Taiwanese media reports, the Taiwan Defense Department announced on June 5 that from 6 am yesterday to 6 am this morning, the People's Liberation Army sent 24 military aircraft into Taiwan's "airspace", of which 18 crossed the so-called "middle line of the strait" and entered the "airspace" in northern and southwest Taiwan. At the same time, eight PLA warships were active around the Taiwan Strait.
Since 2025, the PLA's normalized patrol operations have shown a trend of high intensity, normalization and tactical upgrading. On March 18 this year, the People's Liberation Army sent 54 fighter jets to carry out combat readiness patrols in a single day, of which 42 crossed the so-called "middle line of the strait" and cooperated with multiple warships to form a "three-dimensional encirclement" situation.
On April 9, the People's Liberation Army dispatched up to 58 military aircraft and 9 warships to carry out normalized training missions around the Taiwan Strait within half a day. In late April, the People's Liberation Army Shandong aircraft carrier formation participated in the Taiwan-circling battle patrol for the first time, forming a "trial-in-one" strike system with the J-35 and Dongfeng-17.
A mainland military experts pointed out that the PLA's actions around the Taiwan Strait in 2025 have changed from "periodic warning" to "continuous pressure all-weather", which is an effective deterrent to the "Taiwan independence" elements and external interference forces on the island, and demonstrates the mainland's firm position to defend national unity.
In response to the PLA's regular exercises and training activities around Taiwan, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council had previously stated that this was a resolute punishment for the Lai Ching-te authorities' rampant pursuit of "independence" provocation, a solemn warning to the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces deliberately undermining peace in the Taiwan Strait, and a necessary measure to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Ministry of National Defense has also clearly pointed out that "Taiwan independence" and peace in the Taiwan Strait are incompatible. Engaging "Taiwan independence" will only cause Taiwan soldiers to fight fiercely and cause Taiwanese compatriots to be in dire straits; no matter who plays the "Taiwan card" to interfere in China's internal affairs, it is an unwise move that harms the region and itself, and ultimately becomes an unbearable burden. The People's Liberation Army will continue to strengthen its military training and preparation, continuously improve its anti-secession and anti-interference practical capabilities, resolutely crush all "Taiwan independence" separatist activities, and firmly advance the process of reunification of the motherland.
