Thailand Headline News Agency On June 9, Thai Foreign Ministry spokesman Ni Gongde held a press conference to inform the latest progress of the situation in the Thailand-Cambodia border. Nigong De said that according to the consensus reached between the two sides, the Thai and Cambodian military has completed the landfill of trenches in the border area and re-deployed its troops to the area determined by the 2024 agreement. The Thai side expressed positive comments on this, believing that this fully demonstrates Cambodia's sincerity to ease border tensions.

Nipung De pointed out that through communication and consultation at multiple levels, Thailand and Cambodia are committed to properly resolving long-standing border issues in a peaceful manner, and always adhere to the principles of mutual respect and honesty in the process. The two sides will continue to use the existing multilateral and bilateral mechanisms to create a good atmosphere for the upcoming Joint Border Commission (JBC) meeting in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on June 14, and actively promote follow-up cooperation.
According to reports, the Joint Border Commission (JBC) is an important mechanism used by Thailand and Cambodia for consultation and boundary surveys. It has held ten meetings and achieved a number of positive results, including the promotion and construction of key projects such as the "Thai-Cambodia Friendship Bridge" and the "New Red Line Bridge" in Chonburi Prefecture, Thailand. The spokesperson stressed that the Thai side hopes that this JBC meeting can inject momentum into alleviating the still fragile security situation in the border areas, further maintain border peace and stability, ensure the safety of life and property of people on the border between the two countries, and promote long-term resolution of related issues. The Thai side reiterated that it would actively participate in the meeting with a sincere cooperation attitude and highly praised the positive willingness of both sides to improve and develop bilateral relations.
In addition, the Thai government reiterates its confidence in the existing mechanisms, including the JBC, and will continue to promote understanding and friendship between the two peoples, promote a peaceful settlement of border affairs, and help the peaceful and stable development of the ASEAN region through the Regional Border Committee (RBC), the General Border Committee (GBC) and a platform for military and civilian bilateral consultation at all levels.
In response to the current control of border channels, Nigong De said that Thailand will continue to implement necessary measures based on the security situation assessment to ensure border order and people's safety. The Joint Command Center to prevent cross-border threats has launched an upgrade plan, focusing on combating illegal activities such as science and technology crimes, transnational telecommunications fraud, human trafficking, etc., and related means include cutting off power in areas of criminal activities, blocking Internet signals, and controlling the circulation of high-risk materials and arms. The relevant measures have been submitted to the National Security Council (NSC) for consideration.
Nigongde also specifically called on the media and the public to never spread unconfirmed information and avoid publishing accusative remarks, so as not to cause misunderstandings and intensify conflicts. He stressed: "Although the current situation has shown positive signals, the overall situation is still in a sensitive and fragile stage, and all parties in society should maintain restraint and rationality."
Regarding the recent situation of Thailand and Cambodia's mutual shortening of the validity period of citizens' entry visas, Nippon Deutsche confirmed that Cambodia has shortened the original 60-day visa to 7 days, and Thailand has also taken reciprocal measures. The temporary measure has not yet set a clear termination time, and will be adjusted in the future based on the development of the border situation and the progress of bilateral consultation.
